For those interested in knowing something about their physicians, here<\/span> is a brief biography about me.<\/span><\/p>\n

I am originally from Wisconsin and I still feel quite rooted in the Midwest.<\/span><\/p>\n

I left for college in 1967 enrolling at \u00a0Columbia College in NYC where I graduated in 1971 with a major <\/span>in Biochemistry and a minor in Art History .<\/p>\n

For medical school I returned to the Midwest and attended University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1975.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of my post medical training was at Georgetown where I did an internal medicine internship\u00a0<\/span>followed by a year of neurology and then my residency in psychiatry. After completing my residency\u00a0I spent a year working with Dr Tom Wise at Fairfax Hospital in a \u00a0Hospital Psychiatry fellowship.<\/p>\n

Since 1982 I have been with the Northern Virginia Psychiatric Group and am \u00a0one of its senior\u00a0<\/span>partners. I was on the clinical faculty at Georgetown University Medical School from 1984 -2010 reaching \u00a0the \u00a0rank of Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry.<\/p>\n

The majority of my time is doing outpatient assessments and treatment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I consider myself not firmly aligned with any particular psychological theory or type of therapy\u00a0<\/span>though my education was primarily psycho-dynamic. \u00a0I feel medications, when used judiciously, can\u00a0help reduce \u00a0aspects of psychological distress that can lead to impaired functioning.<\/p>\n
